Fruit and Yogurt Smoothie

2017 has really made me eat more healthy food. So, putting a little secret out about myself. I HATE HEALTHY EATING!!! REALLY!! For me eating food means making my taste buds happy with the best cheesy or high cal food I can find. I basically like junk food but off late or should I say this new year has really made me realise how terrible I am when it comes to taking care of my health. Well.. this is not the only place where I struggle to take care of myself and I bet my people are there first in line to punch me for it. Hahaha!! But hold on tight because this year I am trying (intentionally) to eat healthy food. That doesn’t mean I’m gonna say bye to my bae (junk food) but I’m gonna eat more of healthy food than junk. Slow start you see.

I like cooking and baking and honestly, I’ve not spent much time doing what I like. So, here’s an initiative to eat healthily and to try to create new recipes. Quick and healthy. This recipe was created on a day when I just got out of work super hungry and was really motivated to have something healthy. Well.. All I could see in front of me was these fruits and then this recipe was born.

I love smoothies. They’re fast, easy, healthy, and refreshing. Super simple and the best for your taste buds to feast on!

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

1 small cup of yogurt

1 Fig

5 Grapes

3 or 4 Strawberries

1 1/2 Banana

1 teaspoon Chia seeds

4 to 5 cubes Ice (optional)

2 tablespoons Peanut butter (optional)

1 teaspoon Sugar (optional) Avoid it if you can.

Method:

Place the yogurt, fig, grapes, strawberries, Banana, Chia seeds, Ice, peanut butter and sugar (if needed) in the blender. Blend the ingredients until the smoothie has no visible lumps. Check the consistency and add more yogurt, or ice as desired. Serve the smoothie.

Things to remember:

  • You don’t have to stick to the exact ingredients to create your own smoothie. Just be careful when you throw in different fruits, though. Make sure you don’t put too much of sour fruits unless you like sour fruits.
  • Some people are allergic to peanut butter and yogurt so you can skip this step and just add fruits but if you find the consistency too thick then add 1/2 cup of almond milk or normal milk.
